Here we are again. Has it really been 9 weeks already? Summer definitely appears to be on the way out here in Edinburgh, so if you're similarly chilled to the bone, settle down with a nice cup of coffee whilst I catch you up on all the news.
Firstly, let's extend a hearty greeting to our new Merchistonians who are currently either travelling the globe on a gap year or settling into university. Your marvellous
exam results have shown yet again how Merchiston's values and spirit continues to soar. Welcome to the Club!
To Fives: Andrew Donaldson (95-00) has taken over from the fantastic Ali Turner (87-93) as Fives Secretary. If any of you are interested in joining our Fives Club, consider this your call to arms! Get in touch with Andrew
We're jam-packed with great events this term. Friday 3 October is the date for our
Golf Day at Kings Acre to raise money for the Halford Hewitt Fund. We've enjoyed phenomenal success in winning the HH this year, and would like to see this continue as long as possible. Please do read Golf Captain Sandy Corstorphine (59-64)'s
letter here and do what you can for this great cause!
November sees not only the Annual Dinner (now available to book
here) but also Rugby Supporters' Lunches and the
Class of 1994 Reunion. Phew! Keep an eye out for further RSL info, as well as details on events in London and Australia.
Last but not least: Edinburgh Business Breakfasts are back next month! Roderick Binns (85-92) is kicking them off in style with a talk on 'Architecture's Building Blocks'. Rod will be showing 3 project examples, demonstrating the broad range
of activities that architects get involved in. Whether this is an interest, a passion or a profession for you, come along and get involved! Bring a fiver, your summer stories and your networking brain to Indigo Yard on
Friday 26 September.
Now that this newsletter is ending and your coffee is finished, I bid you a lovely weekend!
