"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

Dear Merchistonians and Friends

On Friday night, the Headmaster and Mrs Hunter went to Òran Mór (a venue in Glasgow) to listen to Rory Fairweather (03-10), Fergus Robson (03-10), Jack Fotheringham (05-10) and Dan Muir (08-10) in their guise as Ava Love, formally Bwani Junction. You can listen to Ava Love's latest song Warcry which was played on BBC Radio Scotland's Vic Galloway show (52 minutes).

Chris Grieve (05-10) was also at the concert supporting his friends and enjoyed a catch-up with the Headmaster and Mrs Hunter. Chris is doing very well, and has recently started his own renovating business with his brother. Best of luck Chris!

"It is amazing being the Headmaster of Merchiston. Wherever you go you bump into folk of and from Merchiston, on the way back from Heathrow at Terminal 5, Angus Sinclair (06-13) "Hello Mr Hunter, how are you?"

It was great to touch base with Angus, on his way back home to the South West of Scotland for a Christmas and New Year break from university in Louisiana.

Angus is a top athlete. He now does the Decathlon. Within the 10 disciplines, he runs the 100 metres in 11.0; high jumps at 2.5 metres and has learnt the pole vault, a new one to Angus.  When I asked Angus which was the hardest of the 10 disciplines for him, he said the 1500 metres!

Yet again wonderful, wonderful moments with an old boy. Well done Angus!"

Better Late Than Never

Thanks to James Hardie (52-57) who has returned to the School, a library book titled 'The Far North' which was taken out 50 years ago. We wish to point out that it was not James that took the book out but an acquaintance. The late return fee has been waived, of course!
