Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Winter is not coming - it is here. As we clutch our hot mugs, bury our noses in scarves and dig out our hardiest shoes, it is increasingly difficult to escape the fact that we are now less than five weeks away from Christmas. Are you prepared? Or, like me,
are you sure to be panic-buying before the big day?
The Annual Dinner is tonight! A big 'thank you' to all those who booked promptly, or cajoled their peers into doing so. I look forward to seeing you all there with your smart shoes and hastily-searched-for Merchistonian ties. For those of you
unable to attend, I will be taking plenty of pictures, so expect a link to them next week!
To rugby: we have heard from the SRU that for those of you who booked 6 Nations home tickets against Wales, Italy and Ireland have all been successful! If you know you are yet to pay, please get in touch with Jo Khan in the office
here. Payment needs to be in before Friday 28 November. Away matches have still yet to be allocated, but I will let you know as soon as we do.
This Thursday 27 November heralds our U16 (KO 6pm) and U18 (KO 7.45pm) finals at Murrayfield Stadium. If you're planning to attend, the Club will be holding a 'Pie and Soup' pre-match treat at The Murrayfield Hotel. We need an indication of
numbers, so if this interests you let me know
here by Monday and I'll get that booked in. Do remember, this is a top schools' event with the whole of Merchiston, Watson's and Dollar in attendance, so best behaviour please!
May I also remind you that our 1XV vs. Fettes Rugby Supporters' Lunch will be held on Saturday 29 November. If you wish to come along, please book
It's always tricky to know whether to follow your heart and take that dream job, or stay put where you know you're secure - but Michael Rolland (98-03) can help you out. His talk on: 'Should I Stay or Should I Go?' is taking place at the next Edinburgh Business
Breakfast on Friday 28 November. Please register yourselves for free
here to come along to Indigo Yard from 8am.
Lastly, on this day in 1877 Thomas Edison announced his new invention, the phonograph, to astounded audiences; in 1905, Albert Einstein published a paper revealing his new formula:
E = mc². Incremental steps change the world - where will yours take you?
Wrap up warm, gentlemen!
