Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Huzzah! The days are getting longer and warmer at last. What a relief to travel to and from work in daylight hours - and for the boys to be able to play rugby on thawed ground. However, half term begins as of this afternoon, so I'm sure the pupils (and staff)
have plenty else on their minds to keep them happy!
Seats are rapidly filling for the Pre-Calcutta Cup Dinner on 13 March. A lot of you are using the night as a time to reunite your year group (marvellous idea!), so if you're intending to book I'd do so this weekend, if I were you - link
To other rugby news: don't forget the Merchistonians v. Academicals match on 28 March, with a match-day collection in aid of SkillForce. Be sure to head along and cheer our
boys on! What else would you be doing?
The 6 Nations is underway and gearing up for some fantastic matches. We now have 2 tickets going spare for the
Scotland v. Ireland match on 21 March. It's a first-come, first-serve policy, so let us know if you're interested
If you need something to entertain the kids over summer, take a look at MAKE Summer School, hosted by our very own Head of Design and Technology, Freddie Main. Freddie's done fabulously with it over the last
couple of years and the boys and girls always love it.
Lastly, this is a fond farewell from me to you. I am away to pastures new from today. It's been a pleasure to see and meet so many of you and I've enjoyed your conversations and company enormously. I wish Merchiston and the Club every success going forward;
this Club does so much and has so many exciting times ahead. Do make the best of this wonderful resource!
Take care of yourselves and remember: on this day in 1633, Galileo Galilei arrived in Rome for his trial before the
Inquisition. Galileo had defied his peers and concerned himself only with the truth - make sure that you believe wholeheartedly in your endeavours and don't let others dissuade you from them.
