'Let the games begin'

Dear Merchistonians and Friends

The 6 Nations is finally here; I am sure you are eager for the first match to begin!

Tonight sees the Scotland U20s take on Ireland, best of luck to Fergus Bradbury (13-15) and Stafford McDowall (14-16)Zach Mercer (13-15) has been named in the U20s England squad; you can cheer him on as they take on France tomorrow.

Also making an appearance this weekend is Fraser Brown (01-07) who will represent Scotland in their match against Ireland.  Based on the Club's 6 Nations ticket sales it is fair to say there will be a strong Merchistonian presence at Murrayfield tomorrow - please share your photographs with me!

Merchistonian News

I spotted Morgan White (10-15) on Twitter this week, making the most of the acoustics in the Founder's Quad at Royal Holloway.  Watch him work his magic in the video below.

After cutting his teeth as the judge in a school production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury in 1967, Ian Lawson (62-67) is now the President of the Edinburgh G&S Society and will be taking a lead role in its upcoming 'Ruddygore' at the King's Theatre from 21 to 25 March.  Read more and get your tickets here

Last Saturday Neill Thomson (83-87) enjoyed his first visit back to Merchiston in over 25 years.  Now a rugby coach for Dunbar Grammar School, Neill returned with his U13 team who narrowly defeated Merchiston's D1s 24-23. The Merchiston hospitality was enjoyed by all and Neill enjoyed showing his son (who is part of their team) around the School.
