'Merchistonian News'

Dear Merchistonians and Friends

A big thank you to Malcolm McNeill (89-94) who visited the School this week to talk to the boys about his new book, 'The Beginning Woods'.  A great read for young and old alike - to find out more and get your copy, click here

Thanks too to Jonny Paterson (98-06) who joined us at the School to share his experience of working as a film producer in LA with the boys - looking very studious Jonny!

Events

Your Business Breakfast this month is at a Highland Experience Tours depot, with Managing Director Michael Bremner (87-90). If you can join us on Friday 28 October 8.00am - 9.00am, please send me an email.  For details, click here.

Ian Lawson (62-67), current President of the Edinburgh Gilbert & Sullivan Society, has been in touch to let you know that their autumn show, Me and My Girl is due to take place this month, at the Church Hill Theatre.  Ian plays the Family Solicitor, and even has a song and dance number!  For details, click here

If you would like to come along to the Rugby Supporters Lunch on Saturday 29 October before supporting the teams, let me know.   Follow the U18 and U16 teams Cup progress here; first matches Tuesday 11 October.

With five weeks to go, now is the time to book your spot for The Merchistonian Annual Dinner. Further details and booking click here.

A London drinks reminder for 21 November. It is proving to be a popular event, so I recommend saving your space now. Partners and friends are welcome! More details here.

Help required

We still need a few more volunteers for the Careers Speed Dating evening on Thursday 10 November at School. Come and talk about your area of expertise or your university experience. Find out how you can get involved here.

Rugby exclusive

Edinburgh Rugby Acting Head Coach Duncan Hodge (86-92) gives us an insight to what might be coming for Edinburgh and looks back on his time at Merchiston. Watch Duncan's interview here

We have a busy weekend of events ahead with the Class of '06 reunion and the Golf Club Autumn Meeting and annual dinner; for those attending I hope you have a great time and I look forward to meeting many of you!

Kind regards,

Gill Imrie
