Plans for Glamis
David Broadfoot MBE (65 - 70) Director at Glamis Castle
Following on from our 'Where are they now' article in the latest Merchistonian Club Magazine we are pleased to read that David, brother of one of our Governors, John Broadfoot (62 - 67), has been a guest speaker at a local Probus Club this month passing on his experiences to local businessmen.

After detailing his Army and Cawdor Castle career, he went on to describe the current and future ventures at Glamis Castle. These included the importance of a new market research programme, and of collaborations with bodies such as Scottish Enterprise, VisitScotland, Creative Scotland, as well as a very supportive Angus Council. The arrival of the V&A at Dundee was shown as another opportunity with the extra tourism attracting new hotels and cruise ship visits.

High quality events at Glamis are being planned to coincide with the Year of Natural Scotland in 2013, The Homecoming 2014 and the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in 2014. This aims to generate profile and profit for Glamis Castle's and therefore securing it's future. We continue to wish him every success in his current role.
