Merchistonian Annual Dinner - Friday 9 November
Get the date in your diary now, to make sure you are free to join us for what will be an excellent night. This year the committee are organising a more informal dinner (blazers and school ties) at a new venue in town. We will be saving a spot at a
nearby pub for pre-drinks, followed by free entry to Opal. More details to follow.
After completing the first part of his medical degree at Cambridge last year,
Johnny Tam (13-15)
moved to University College, London (UCL) to complete his training to become a doctor. Inspired by Mr Rossiter's Close Harmony Group, Johnny founded a barbershop choir of medical students, christened "Chordiac Arrest".
Now in its second year of music-making, and the last year he will lead the choir, they travelled to Edinburgh to perform on the streets and in bars. They finished their trip with a flash mob performance of the Irish folk song "Danny Boy".

Allan (96-97) and Grant Tait (61-66)
On a 70th birthday trip to Scotland, Allan decided to surprise his father with a visit to Merchiston. After leaving school, Grant moved to France for a year and has lived there ever since. Allan, now living in Brussels, enjoyed sharing Merchiston memories
with his father.
Ian Ratazzi (59-63)
Ian and his wife were up visiting new found family members and took the opportunity to pop by the School for a tour. Having not returned for 55 years Ian enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
Simon Carpenter (97-03)
The Headmaster enjoyed a catch up with Simon this week. Simon is still working on his book which will be called "Zelda the Magnificent and her Adventures in the Park" based around a pug as the main character. Watch this space!

is organising an event at Queen Margaret University which will be looking at the work environment and some of the issues that can arise/be a challenge. The event will take place on
Monday 4 June
and will run from 9 am till 1.30 pm with light lunch after. Tickets are free but limited. Get your ticket

Merchistonian Pipers and Drummers Unite
You might remember that when Merchiston pupil James
was in Pringle in 2014 he wrote to the Headmaster with a wonderful idea. He wanted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War 1 at the School's Remembrance Service
this year with 100 Merchiston pipers and drummers parading.
We now have 81 pipers and drummers committed to the commemoration parade. Could you be one of the remaining 19?
