Trip to School for Gibson Relative
Friday was very special for the Club and the School, as Mrs. Pauline Gibson, great-grandaughter to Mr. John Gibson (1850-1856), came to visit Merchiston for the very first time.
Mr. Gibson was only the second Headmaster to take the reigns and, by all accounts, was extremely well-liked. However, his tenure was short as he died quite suddenly in 1856.

On the first night of term, knowing he was gravely ill, Gibson took it upon himself to shake hands with every boy; this has now become the custom for each proceeding Headmaster.

We're very happy to have welcomed Mrs. Patricia Gibson to Merchiston and we hope to see her again in the future.
