The
Annual Dinner countdown has officially begun. With 8 weeks to go make sure you get your ticket booked. The evening promises to be a fun-filled night that you would not want to miss! Book your tickets
here or by calling the office on 0131 312 2262.
Good luck to
Fintan Purcell (09-14), who is going out to mainland China to learn to teach English as an additional language (EAL). Fintan will be joining his classmate
Jack Kinloch (07-14).
Great Merchistonian sibling success!
Fergus McAteer (05-10) has recently begun a work placement after graduating from Oxford. Fergus's younger brother
Rory McAteer (07-12) is now in his second year of a Masters at York University, in English/Film Studies, having gained a First in English Literature.
On to sport,
Zach Mercer (13-15) played for Bath on
Saturday 10 September. Not only did Zach make his debut but he made three in one game; appearing for the 1XV, his first premiership outing and, in the second half, his debut
as a winger. Read more
here. Well done Zach!
The Merchistonian shooting team visited
Bisley in the summer, read their report
here.
The School needs your help! On Thursday 10 November there will be a
Careers Speed Dating evening from 7-9pm and we are looking for Merchistonians willing to come along to talk to the pupils about their area of expertise or their university experience. Find out how you can get involved here.
Spread the word. The School is holding an
Information Morning on Saturday 29 October. If you know of any parents who may be interested in finding out more about a Merchiston education get them to
register online to come along.
It's that magazine time of the year - please email me at
merchistonians@merchiston.co.uk details of Merchistonian:
- weddings and engagements
- births
- deaths
- graduations or achievements
And to finish, the School was awash with
Roald Dahl characters celebrating his birth centenary, only to be pipped by the Tennis Academy squad catching up with
Andy Murray and the Sixth Formers seeing elephants in the Memorial Hall during a lecture titled
'Hypnotism Without Hypnosis' - just an ordinary week at an extraordinary School.
Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards,
Gill Imrie
