Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Friday 29 January - Business Breakfast at Spartans CFC with Roger Baird (73-78)
Friday 26 February - Business Breakfast with Oliver McCaul (00-05)
Thursday 24 March - Business Breakfast with Roy Robertson (64-69)
On Monday there were Christmas jumpers in abundance and some very competitive renditions of the 12 Days of Christmas over the 3 sittings of Christmas dinners. The corridors of the School are now quiet but, hark, is that the sound of a digger?
This week work started on the School’s new 2G astro-turf. There will be a web-cam in place soon so that you can watch progress over the coming months but it’s the start of another exciting phase for the School.
Before the end of term, Dr David Millar (80-85) Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, visited the School. Staff were pleased to hear David acknowledge Merchiston’s sector-leading position on concussion management in Scottish schools but they were also keen to consider further protocols which could be adopted.
Sticking with rugby, in the Capetown Rugby 7s Bowl final, Scotland beat England 19-0. Well done to the team and Jamie Johnstone (02-08) for scoring one of the tries.
Some of you have reported difficulty in buying Andrew Haddow’s (60-65) Caddy DVD, mentioned last week. We have made now it easier. Click here for further details.
The Club magazine has gone to print and should be with you soon. It’s not too late to give us an updated address if you have moved house within the last year or so. You can email the office here.
This is our last newsletter of 2015. The Club President, the Development Director and I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and look forward to continuing the conversations in 2016.
