Dear Merchistonians and Friends

Events and Visits

Seven weeks until The Merchistonian Annual Dinner. Have you booked your seats? You can now organise your own groups online so you can sit together with your old class, or you can book individually and your seat will be a lucky dip.  Just make sure you book here so you do not miss out!  It is great to see some of the Class of '09 booking up this week.

The Business Breakfast takes place next Friday, find out more here.  Please let me know if you would like to attend.

For any art lovers, Richard Ireland (65-70), works at the National Gallery of Modern Art and he will be exhibiting some of their gallery artists in November at the Edinburgh Art Fair in the Corn Exchange.

Calling Class of '06! Time is running out - if you want to sign up to join your 10 year reunion click here. Additionally, Oli Green (99-07) has been in touch to put a date in the diary for a Class of '07 reunion in 2017. Please get in touch if you are inspired and would like a get together for your year group.

Your London rep, Michael Ferndale (86-92) is organising London drinks on Monday 21 November at the Cavalry & Guards Club.  For further details please click here, and to confirm attendance please respond to this email.

We had visits from both Jason Cheng (00-07) and Dean Atkins (78-81) this week. Read more here.

Merchistonians in the Spotlight

The Edinburgh Tattoo saw Richard Tidy (08-12) parading as a Drum Major with the Officers' Training Corps this year.  We wish Richard the best of luck in his final year of a Civil Engineering Masters degree at Herriot Watt.

Duncan Ledingham (08-12) has just completed a Mechanical Engineering degree at Manchester and started work on 1 August for an oil services company specialising in pipe integrity robotic inspection.

Great to see Magnus Bradbury (11-13) and Patrick Kelly (10-14) featuring in sports articles this week. This month's edition of SCRUM is packed with Merchistonian highlights from Connor Hughes (07-12) and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne (06-11) to Merchistonian parent updates from Guy Richardson and Dee Bradbury.

Congratulations to Bruce Mair (00-03) on your new position at Wood Group PSN, I hope you enjoy your new role!

Situations Vacant

Are you a recent graduate or are you looking for an intern position? Graeme Smith (94-99) is hoping to hire a Merchistonian to work with him in London. His business is Candela Search and the role is that of a researcher.  Let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with Graeme.
