Dear Merchistonians and Friends
I trust that participants in last Saturday's 30 year reunion will be safely home, particularly those who travelled specially from the USA, Bangladesh and all far flung points in between. We wonder just how far Merchistonians
will travel to catch up with old friends? See photos
This week we were delighted to meet up with Craig Street (83-90) who was shaking off his sea legs fresh from his latest voyage as Captain of the Shanghai based Sapphire Princess. For a
glimpse into Craig's working life see
article from last year's Melbourne Herald Sun.
Benny Day (03-08) reached the rugby heights in Shenzen, China, last weekend when his team, the Shenzen Dragons won the All-China Rugby Cup final. If you are in Shenzen, why not join Benny and
Haoyang Sun (05-08), who played with the team in its first year. Details here.
On the domestic front, huge congratulations to Sam Hidalgo-Clyne (06-11) who capped a brilliant season as scrum half with Edinburgh and Scotland by being named
Young Player of the Year at the Guinness PRO12 awards in Dublin on 17 May.
If rugby is not your thing, perhaps shooting will be. Contact
Richard Macmillan (81-87)
here if you would like to take part in a series of shooting
events at the School on Saturday 30 May, and Saturday 20 June, and at Bisley in July.
Devotees of Donald Sprinck (staff 1946-72), can enjoy an Usher Hall performance of his Scottish Tuba Tune on Wednesday 17 June at 1.10 pm. Further information
Finally, sign up here for the latest Business breakfast at Indigo Yard on Friday 29 May at 8.00 am. Our speaker will be Duncan Sutherland, current parent. The Breakfast is a brilliant
