Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Well, it might be a bit dreary-looking outside right now, but as my mother always says:
there's no such thing as terrible weather, just unsuitable clothes. It's all in the attitude! Perhaps we could all take a leaf from her book and do
Merchiston's sport has gone from strength to strength this week. For the second time in three years, we have both the
U16s and U18s at Murrayfield! Thursday 27 November will see both our squads in the final - kick-off time to be announced. As an audience, you were exceptional; more of the same polite behaviour and passionate support, please.
Fraser Brown (01-07) has been
named in the Scotland team against the All Blacks tomorrow - KO 5.30pm. Tune in and support this marvellous achievement!
Patrick Kelly (10-14), former captain of both rugby and the School and now playing in Aix-en-Provence, has also been selected for the U20s Scotland team.
To top it all off, our U13 and U15 tennis teams have also both qualified for the
National Finals in December - both in the last four schools in the UK!
Last Sunday, Merchiston held the annual Remembrance and Dedication Service. This poignant tribute to those who lost their lives was even more so this centennial year. The Club organised photos of Merchistonians who could attend, their sons
who are currently at Merchiston and the rest of their families. For more information, click
The Annual Dinner is next week! You have until Thursday evening to book your seats, so please ensure you do so in good time. I don't want to see any un-booked stragglers in the rain, asking for a seat! Either book yourself in
here or give me a call on 0131 312 2262 to sort you out a place.
Lastly, Michael Rolland (98-03) will be speaking at the next Business Breakfast on 28 November at Indigo Yard. 'Should I Stay or Should I Go? The debate of whether to take a job offer to move' is a must. Bravery, ambition and determination
are required to leave that job behind - listen to our Merchistonian recruitment expert to find out how to take that next step and book yourself in
Have a lovely weekend, gentlemen.
