Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Six weeks to go until the
Annual Dinner. What are you waiting for? Ring up your friends, gather yourselves together and use your Club for a guaranteed fun night out with old classmates. If you're having trouble booking, call me on 0131 312 2262 and I'll get it all sorted for you.
On to another popular event: our London Drinks! Save Thursday 27 November in your calendars; venue and times to follow. Keep your eyes to the horizon (or just my emails) and I'll let you know more very soon.
The majority of you will have received an email letting you know that the
6 Nations away matches are now available. Use your login details to access our
website and book through us! It's as easy as that. Any problems, just call Jo Khan (our lovely new Development Office member, not the new mother and Club Secretary Jo Tennant!) on 0131 312 2237.
Now to sport: last week, you'll recall I mentioned the Merchiston 1XV vs. George Heriot's match at Goldenacre. Due to very poor conditions it was cancelled, but took place this Wednesday. It turned out to be well worth the wait! You'll be delighted
to hear we won by a mighty 46-5. It was a pleasure to see so many Merchistonians present and rooting for our youngsters. If you would like to keep up-to-date with all our sports events, including call-offs, visit our Sports
Finally, today there is a lesson for all of us -
Malala Yousafzai has become the world's youngest Nobel laureate, alongside Indian child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi. A woman at the tender age of 17 has used her young strength and wisdom to help transform the world and a 60 year
old man has spent his life affecting change for countless children. People at any point in their lives, from anywhere around the world, can truly make a difference. Where will your path take you?
Have a lovely weekend.
