'It is all here in black and white'

Dear Merchistonians and Friends

A very exciting night for Sam Hidalgo-Clyne (06-11) and Magnus Bradbury (11-13) tonight as Edinburgh Rugby take on Timisoara Saracens at Myreside. I am sure that there will be many Merchistonians cheering you on.  More details here.

Simon Collins (00-06) last month, tied the knot with his fiancée, Tracey. Wishing the happy couple the very best for their future together.

Chris Cowan (79-85) is returning to Adam & Company as their new Director, read more here

Chris is not the only one celebrating a new position. Sakhr Nammari (89-97), David Mackail (84-89), Herriot Stobo (87-92) and Sandy Richardson (01-08) have all recently started new jobs. Best of luck to you all; let me know how you get on!

You may remember that Stuart Riddell (76-81) and his family organised a Christmas charity ceilidh.  The event raised over £13k for Maggie's Centre in Edinburgh. There was a healthy turnout of Merchistonians at the ceilidh, you can read more here. Stuart and Ewen Rose (76-81) enjoying the evening.

As Scotland announces its squad for the Six Nations we must congratulate Fraser Brown (01-07) who has been selected to represent Scotland.  We will be watching the games with pride!

Calum Hill (11-13), recently visited Kings Acre, fine tuning his game for the 2017 season. Read more of Calum's news and about his recent scholarship here.

Guy Winter (88-94), Robin Winter (89-96), Simon Wood (88-94) and Oliver Cardigan (88-91) went to Twickenham Stoop on Saturday to watch Duncan Hodge's (86-92) well-orchestrated win against the Harlequins.  Here is a photo of former MCS back-row stalwarts Oliver Cardigan and Magnus Bradbury (11-13) after Edinburgh's superb victory.

Can you help?

To the Class of '53…Does anyone remember Peter Maynard Ross (48-53)?  Sadly Peter passed away when his son, Nigel, was only 9 years old.  Nigel is eager to find out more about his father and has just discovered that his father attended Merchiston.  Please get in touch with me if you were friends with Peter at Merchiston.
