Dear Merchistonians and Friends
Seven weeks until our Annual Dinner. Have you booked your seats? If not, I'm going to need a doctor's note to let you off the hook. You can now organise your own groups online so that you and your peers can seat yourself along 'Class of…' lines,
or you can turn up with your gladrags on and have a jolly time. Just make sure you book
here so you don't miss out!
The School's 'Career Speed Dating' event on Thursday 6 November needs more Merchistonian faces. Please do come and enlighten our Shell youngsters about all the different careers available to them when they 'grow up'. It's a fun and informative
evening for everyone, so if you're free pop me a line
here and let me know.
Tomorrow sees the Scottish Schools' Cup, with our talented 1XV facing off against George Heriot's School at Goldenacre from 10.30. I have been asked to remind you all that this is a family-friendly event, so do pop along to support our boys
in the Quarter Final (no alcohol).
With rugby in mind, our 6 Nations home tickets are
online and bookable! By now, all Merchistonians should have received notification of your login details for you to order them from our new website (ta-da!). Away matches will be available shortly. Please remember to click 'Confirm' back on the website once
In my final rugby announcement of the week, our Rugby Supporters' Lunches have been announced as 8 November (Durham School) and 29 November (Fettes).
Please click the links to book your seats.
Now summer's over, I know a lot of you will have enjoyed a few celebrations either at home or abroad. If you would like to announce any engagements, marriages, births or promotions, give us a shout (and a photo!) and I'll make sure it gets into the
Lastly, October's Edinburgh Business Breakfast will be at
Gilson Gray, full service law firm founded by Matt Gray (79-85). As well as a nosey behind the scenes, Graham Millar, one of Scotland's leading employment lawyers, will be giving a talk on
'The Horrors of Social Media: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'. Protect your business and know where you stand. Spaces are limited, as this promises to be a sell-out event. Book
Thank you to all those who respond to my newsletters with stories, jokes, pictures and comments. For now, I will leave you to settle into this much cooler season with
this brilliant tune.
