A November Fairytale

Dear Merchistonians and Friends

We may have been besieged by cold November rain lately, but as the fog settles and our curtains close a little earlier each night, let's all welcome the weekend as a chance to regroup before December attacks us.

Thank you to all those who attended the Annual Dinner; it was a splendid occasion filled with reunions, new memories and fantastic food, all in a beautiful setting. It was lovely to meet so many new faces as well as welcome more familiar ones. If you would like to see any pictures from that night, you can find them
here
.

The London meet-up has been moved to 13 March for the pre-Calcutta Cup Dinner at
Boisdale of Bishopsgate at 7pm, so keep a note of that in your diaries. Be sure to register your interest with me when I make the call closer to the event!

If any Merchistonians are looking for a financial adviser, at a Merchistonian discount,
Richard Macmillan (81-87) is the Director of Forbes Lawson and has recently been certified for excellence! For more information, take a look on our website.

Guy Winter (88-94) has branched out into the world of novels; his book "Watchdog- A Credit Crunch Fairytale" is now out on Amazon and Kindle here. Support a Merchistonian and take a look! Seasoned maestro Graham Wilson (05-10) also has a book out; his second. "The Road to Dresden" is available here for purchase. Let us know what you think of them!

Michael Rolland (98-03) delivered a great presentation this morning for the Edinburgh Business Breakfast. That's all for 2014, folks; the next Breakfast Meeting will be held 30 January 2015 at Tigerlily, where we'll be going 'behind the scenes'. Don't miss out!

Lastly, our Murrayfield evening last night gave us a mix of joy and disappointment; most of you will already know our U16s won with a nail-biting 25-24 against Dollar Academy, whilst our U18s were defeated 17-23 by the title-holders, George Watson's College. All the boys worked so hard, so it's important to keep the momentum going. Who knows what will happen next year?

Kind regards

Amy
