A message from Ally Evans, Head of Cricket

We will once again be holding our Merchistonians v 1^st XI cricket fixture this summer. For those of you that have been involved before you know it is a great afternoon to reconnect with former school friends as well as the school itself. The 1^st XI won the U18 Schools Cup last year so the program is on a high, and we hope you will come back and join us for an afternoon/evening of relaxed cricket in the sun, as well as a drink after.

Chris Bell will be running the Merchistonian team again this year. So if you are interested please can you let either him or myself know. Please contact Chris on chrisbell190700@gmail.com.

We are also changing the way the Sports Day will be running this year at the school. We will be running it as a whole school event from J4 all the way up to Upper Sixth with events taking place on the same day. This will also be happening on 23^rd May from 2pm, so if anyone wants to come along prior to the match then watch Sports Day you are more than welcome to join.

A message from the Merchistonian Golf Club

The Merchistonian Golf Club plays both in representative competitions most notably the Halford Hewitt, the Cyril Gray, the Stenhouse Quaich and the Queen Elizabeth but it isn't just a club for elite golfers.  We have a number of friendly matches against other schools and our Annual Meeting in September which this year will be held at Luffness New Golf Club.

Membership of the club is £40 per year for those over 25 and free to those younger.

The key dates are:

Three way Friendly against Loretto and Glenalmond at Prestwick - Sunday 9^th June

Annual Meeting at Luffness New - Sunday 1^st September

Friendly against Sedburgh at Prestwick - Sunday 13^th October

Halford Hewitt at Deal - 11^th to 14^th April

Cyril Gray at Worplesdon - 26^th to 28^th June

Queen Elizabeth at Royal Burgess - 20^th to 22^nd September
