Dear
^Name.Title^ ^Name.LastName^
In order to support the Schools 2024 South
Africa rugby tour and its charity fundraising efforts, Rev Nick Blair, the
School Chaplain has written a book called THE FIRST XV
(Tall tales of the 1858 team) a book of the life stories of the very
first Merchiston Rugby Team.
You
can read about, The Leader, The Father figure, The Fraudster, The Cowboy, The
Handsomest man in Scotland etc etc...in other words the 1858 team sheet hasn't
changed character-wise very much from a team sheet of today. The Captain of that
first 1858 team also had the distinction of kicking off the very first rugby
match in South Africa. Yes, a Merchistonian literally started South
African Rugby!
The
team are raising funds in particular for The Langa Project, a collection of
charities based in Langa township near Cape Town. Thanks to some kind
sponsorship EVERY PENNY raised by this book will go to these
projects,
- Wellness
and Health Project
- Urban
Community Garden Project
- Autism
school in Langa
- Day
care
- Orphanage
- Renovating
houses that were fire damaged
- Blank
project for fire disaster management
- Providing
school shoes Project
- Meal
kitchen
- Cheshire
home for disability (wheel chairs)
- Aids and
HIV home care
- Sports
Project (sport kits, soccer & rugby books and equipment)
