A message from Nick De Luca, Director of Sport and Activities

Dear ^Name.Title^ ^Name.LastName^

I hope this email finds you well and you are still as active as you were in your school days!

For those who don't know me, I have recently taken over as Director of Sport at Merchiston Castle School and now that I am settled in, I am writing to see if you would be open minded to hearing about a few exciting projects.

As you know, sport has always been a big part of life at the Castle and the school has countless stories of success. You have all been a big part of that and I hope you have many fond memories from your time here and still want to be part of the school's future success.

As a school, we do not want to rest on our laurels and still need to invest in sport. Ensuring we are making positive sporting memories for all and at the same time producing the next Scotland cap, Davis Cup member or Ryder Cup captain.

Ultimately allowing boys to find their authentic best self and ensure that Merchiston is a place of forever belonging.

Upgrading our gym

This means investment in sport, but investment in tangible and realistic plans. That starts with upgrading our gym, from what is currently stored in a cupboard to a state-of-the-art athletic development suite over two floors.

We have used four companies to design this facility and have whittled it down to one. Everything is ready to go with a time scale from order to completion in just 6-weeks, this can be a reality for every current student.

Could you help support us?

From 7 years old to 18, from cricket to climbing, every sport and every boy will benefit from this new facility. If shaping the next generation of athletes interests you, then please do get in touch with myself and I can share the full plans. With an itemised invoice you literally could choose which weight, rack, rig or dumbbell you'd like to contribute to. No amount is too small! The total cost for this project is £65,000 and if you would like more detail I can supply it.

Cricket

The second project is our poor cricket nets. Blasted by the wind over the last decade they are now the leaning nets of Merchi and are in need of upgrading.

As a sport, we want to be the school of first choice for Scottish Cricketers, and to be able to do that, we at least need an upgrade on our outdoor nets. Ideally this would involve a facility from scratch on the same site coming in at over £70,000. However, if this becomes unrealistic then any money given can resurface and recondition what is already there. Due to the success of our cricket program, we are turning heads and it would be great while we have their gaze that we can show them a vision of where we are going before they turn away again.

Again, if this interests you, please do reach out and we can share the full plans of the project.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and if you are curious or would be interested in supporting these projects then please reach out to me by email. I appreciate I am asking for your trust and I look forward to building that and keeping it for years to come.

Yours

Nick De Luca
